Automatic texts are not very interesting and are not really possible anyway. It is a failed concept. John Cage the American composer if he can be called that and others experimented with randomness and chance and machine generated ideas using ideas related to chance. These are also not very interesting. Art generted in the human realm must remain human in origin, human in aesthetic and human in production. Therefore we have shifted to another form which shall be called Semi Automatic but more properly Serendipitous meaning that Chance is incorporated into the process but also so is reason and design. This returns art to the human realm where it shall remain from here forward.
Humans always have an interest at some point in Transcendence. But transcendence is actually a state of being. Though we may not experience it - bogged down as we often are in our 'common' state of consciousness - it is ever present within us. It is our universal legacy. Thus, a healthy form of art making will be an interaction between our human nature as it has developed in this world and our transcendent state of being which is the foundation of our consciousness. The fusion of these two states is the goal of our surrealist endeavors.
Thus forget automatism except as a practice of surrender and self effacement.
Embrace a deep state of fusion. Interact with the forces of nature: accept
them and accept yourself.
